Four years after the death of British teen Scarlett Eden Keeling,Goa Children’s Court has allowed a CBI plea to record evidence of a key prosecution witness through video conferencing (VC). Michael Mannion,a British national who saw Scarlett with the two accused on the night she was allegedly murdered, told CBI he was ready to come down to Goa to testify if the prosecution reimbursed him for loss of salary and expenses incurred. “Mannion fears threat and hence requested CBI to record his deposition via video link,” his lawyer Vikram Verma said. Scarlett’s semi-naked corpse was found at Anjuna beach on February 18,2008. Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho were held for rape and murder.
