Rail connectivity to five major districts of Haryana is set to improve as the Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line,a 75 kilometre stretch,and the Sonepat-Jind railway line,a 81 kilometre stretch,are expected to be completed by March 31,next year. Apart from this,the Railways department has also completed the survey for the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line.
The entire project is expected to cost around Rs 406.87 crore. The Haryana government has agreed to provide the land,free of cost,and will pitch in with 50 per cent of the construction cost.
According to Haryana government officials,the Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line would be completed at a cost of Rs 475 crore and the project includes six Railway Over Bridges (ROB) and five railway stations. Similarly,the Sonepat-Jind railway line would be completed at a cost of Rs 500 crore and it includes a ROB,24 road under bridges,30 level crossings and 12 railway stations.
In order to improve road and rail connectivity,the state government has taken many initiatives. To improve road connectivity,the state government had attracted Public Private Partnership (PPP) in road sector,which includes the first road project of Haryana on Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis for improvement of Gurgaon -Faridabad and Ballabgarh-Sohna roads. The project was awarded to M/s Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. on negative grant of Rs.150.30 crore. The work on this project had already been completed and provisional certificate had been issued,a state government spokesperson said.
On the other ongoing projects,the spokesperson added: Four laning of the Rai Malikpur (Rajasthan Border)-Narnaul-Mahendragarh-Dadri-Bhiwani-Kharak Corridor on a DBFOT basis has been approved in principle by the Planning Commission of India for grant of Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support. Its length is 151 km and would cost Rs.1366.95 crore. After completing the bidding process,the state government had issued letter awarding (LOA) the project to the selected bidder on the premium offer.
