The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday arrested one of its sub-inspectors,along with three agents,and the civil surgeon of Fatehgarh Sahib district oncharges of accepting bribes in two different cases. DGP-cum-Chief Director (VB) Suresh Arora said Civil Surgeon Jai Singh was caught in his office by a Vigilance team when he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from complainant Ajmer Singh,who owns a sweet shop. The tainted money was allegedly recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. In another incident,Arora said that Head Constable Lubhaya Masih had complained that Sub-Inspector Madan Lal of Vigilance Bureau (Pathankot unit) was threatening him by saying he had received a report regarding his enrolment in Punjab Police on the basis of forged certificates and demanded Rs 75,000 to settle the matter. On July 24,the sub-inspector allegedly asked the complainant to hand over Rs 55,000 to his agents who were working as typists near the Pathankot bus stand. The agents,Ram Kishan Gupta and his son Anil Gupta,received the money and handed it over to Karnail Singh,another agent. All the three were arrested by the vigilance team and they admitted that they were working for Madan Lal.
