The Navsarjan Trust, which works for the uplift of Dalits, has threatened to move a PIL in the Gujarat High Court in the next few days if the state home department fails to provide it a copy of the report in 2012 Thangadh police firing, probed by the Sanjay Prasad Commission.
Addressing mediapersons on Monday, Navsarjan representatives, Manjula Pradeep and Kirit Rathod, said that their organisation had filed an RTI application with the state home department, seeking a copy of the report, but the latter refused to share it on the ground that it might affect “intelligence and security” if the contents of report were divulged. The report was submitted to the government on May 1, 2013. Three Dalit youths were killed in police firing in Thangadh in September 2012.
