The Railway Ministry on Wednesday informed that a new system of surge pricing will come in force from September 9 which will lead to an increase in ticket price of three trains – Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto.
As per the new system, the fares will go up by 10 per cent with sale of every 10 per cent tickets. The unsold tickets will be available for booking four hours ahead of the train departure.
Opposition parties lashed out at the government and said that this will affect the average commuter and put an extra burden on their pockets.
