Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh is all set to spend a day in each of the 117 Assembly segments in the state to establish direct contact with voters during a six-month-long outreach programme starting from Sunday.

Named ‘Halke Vich Captain’ (Captain in Assembly constituency), the former Punjab Chief Minister will hear the grievances of the locals as he aims to reach out to two crore people through the campaign planned by poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s team I-PAC.

“Halke Vich Captain is a citizen engagement initiative by Amarinder Singh through which he aims to establish a direct contact with various stakeholders in each of Punjab’s 117 Assembly constituencies,” said a release issued by I-PAC.

“Once in a halka, Captain will spend one full day interacting with various stakeholders there, a significant portion of which will be spent interacting with locals and hearing their concerns,” it said.

In a direct bid to challenge the incumbent SAD-BJP government in the state, ‘Halke Vich Captain’ will kick off from Jalalabad, the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal tomorrow.

A process for submission of grievances will also be set up under the campaign. The grievances submitted will be resolved within the first 100 days of Congress forming the government in Punjab, the release added.

“In each HVC event, Captain will directly interact with approximately 5,000 people from every halka. He will reach out to approximately six lakh people directly over the course of the campaign,” said the release.
