PM Modi can’t tolerate Dalit beti being feted with garland of notes: Mayawati

BSP chief Mayawati flayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his “garland of notes’ remark, saying that he could not “tolerate” that a “Dalit ki beti” (a daughter of Dalit) was honoured with a “garland of currency notes”. “BSP ke neta kaali kamayi ke noton se nahi, apni mehnat, khoon ki kamayi se apne neta ka swagat karte hain (BSP workers do not welcome me with garland of black money notes. They do it with their hard earned money,” she said. Her attack came hours after addressing a rally at Ghazipur, without naming anyone, Modi said, “They used to get huge garlands of notes under which their faces got hidden.”

The BSP chief was offered a garland of currency notes at a rally in Lucknow when she was the chief minister of UP.
