After the Gujarat High Court denied him parole thrice in the past ten months in wake of the assault and an alleged marital rape cases, the Sabarmati Jail authorities extended 14-day furlough to Suresh Langado, who is serving life sentence in Naroda Patiya riots case.
In January, while out on 30- day bail, Langado allegedly attacked a former journalist, who had gone to his house for an interview. Besides, his wife also filed an FIR against him, alleging marital rape when he was granted similar temporary bail in the past. Following complaints, Langado was arrested on January 21 by the Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch and was sent back to jail.
Since then, Langado approached High Court on three occasions for temporary bail which were rejected by the court, which cited the two cases lodged against him. According to Sabarmati Jail superintendent Sunil Joshi, the furlough has been granted as per the rules.
