Three militant killed in gunbattle in south Kashmir

In the exchange of fire three militants were killed. The search operation is still in progress. Officials said that all the three could be local militants who were operating in south Kashmir. Officials said that it was a brief encounter that lasted for half an hour. In another operation a militant was killed in Manigah where a Lt Colonel of Army and another soldier was injured on Sunday in Kupwara district.

The operation against the militants in Kupwara entered second week. So far a commanding officer and a soldier have been killed in the operation that is spread over 25 villages in Kupwara. Officials said that army is looking for a Lashkar group that had recently sneaked into Valley.
