IN A bid to establish the exact sequence of events on the day Aabesh Dasgupta, a Class XII student, was found lying in a pool of blood after attending the birthday party of noted author Amit Chaudhuri’s daughter, the Kolkata Police on Monday questioned 13 persons, including 9 of the victim’s friends again.

Among the nine, three were reportedly present at the party on July 21 at the Sunny Park apartment in Kolkata’s posh Ballygunge area, a senior Kolkata Police official said.

According to a senior officer at Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters, 2 cab drivers and 2 security personnel of the Sunny Park apartment and the south Kolkata club where Aabesh had gone with his friends for lunch, were also questioned.

The investigators, who had interrogated Aabesh’s friends on Sunday as well, asked them to narrate the entire incident again to find out the reason for delay in taking the 17-year-old to the hospital on that fateful day.

According to sources, the entire focus of the probe now is to find out why Aabesh was not immediately taken to a nearby hospital despite being critically injured. Investigations revealed that while Aabesh had received injuries on his armpit by around 5.45 pm, he was taken to the hospital at 6.50 pm. While reconstructing the events, police found out that the distance between the apartment to the hospital is not much. Aabesh’s friends, however, have been claiming that the non-availability of cabs caused the delay.

Police is preparing the final report based on the findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) especially formed to probe into this incident.

Asked if police were able to find the missing link of the CCTV footage, which didn’t capture Aabesh’s movements for 22 seconds, Garg said probe is on to establish what happened during that period.

The Kolkata Police had earlier ruled out murder and said Aabesh died “accidentally” after he fell from a low wall skirting along a playground. Demanding justice, eminent personalities, relatives and friends of the deceased boy, took part in a silent march on Saturday. Chaudhuri was questioned again at Lalbazar on Sunday to cross-check a statement given by his daughter to the police.
