Kerala hummer case: Prime witness admits he turned hostile out of fear

A prime witness in the hummer horror case, who had turned hostile during the trial, on Tuesday told the court that he did so out of fear.

A prime witness in the hummer horror case, who had turned hostile during the trial, on Tuesday told the court that he did so out of fear.

K C Anoop, who has been arraigned as the first witness of the prosecution, had told the trial court on Monday that he hadn’t seen security guard Chandrabose being attacked by businessman Muhammad Nisham. Anoop, security guard at Soba City, had stated that he had given a statement before the magistrate against Nisham under pressure from the police.

Anoop had told the magistrate that he had witnessed how Nisham ploughed his Hummer SUV into the helpless security guard and later brutally attacked him. Anoop turning hostile during the trial was a setback for the prosecution.

On Tuesday when the trail resumed, Anoop said he had seen Nisham attacking the security guard with his massive vehicle. He confessed before the court that what he had earlier told the trail court was wrong.

He said he gave a false statement before the court after the murder accused person’s brother threatened him to change the original statement. “I have gave a false statement before the court out of fear for life. I have changed the statement factoring the life of my wife and children. I have to go for duty at odd hpurs. I am correcting the false statement out of guilt feeling,” he told the court.

Chandrabose was knocked down by hummer on January 29 this year. Two weeks later he died.
