JNU row: Looking for Umar Khalid, cops questioned 50 people

Khalid is among the nine students who organised the February 9 event on the JNU campus where anti-national slogans were allegedly raised.

To trace the whereabouts of JNU student Umar Khalid, Delhi Police questioned nearly 50 people including professors and journalists in the last 10 days, said sources.

Khalid is among the nine students who organised the February 9 event on the JNU campus where anti-national slogans were allegedly raised.

Sources said after scanning Khalid’s call detail records, police came to know he was in touch with 12 journalists and professors of DU and JNU. Police have learnt that in January and February, he made two phone calls on two local phone numbers of Kashmir but they have not found anything suspicious, added the sources. On Sunday, Khalid’s friend Kamran was called to Special Task Force office in Vasant Vihar and questioned for four hours, said sources.
