As Jammu and Kashmir is likely to come under Governor’s rule, the Bhartiya Janata Party legislators held another meeting in Jammu on Saturday to chalk out a reply to the Governor N N Vohra’s letter that he had sent to BJP about governance in the state. On Friday evening, Governor N N Vohra wrote separate letters to PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti and state president of BJP, Sat Paul Sharma about their respective positions on government formation. Neither PDP nor BJP has so far handed the letter of support to the Governor. Peoples Democratic Party leaders say that the party is in mourning and decisions could be only taken after Sunday about the formation of government. “We will hold another meeting after which Governor of the state will be apprised about the position of the BJP,’’ State BJP president Sat Paul Sharma told The Indian Express. He, however, said that on Friday top leaders of BJP met PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to express their condolences. Sources in the BJP said that party has left it up to the PDP leadership to decide when the new chief minister could take oath. Initially, BJP leaders had insisted that the oath should be taken shortly, but after Mehbooba's reluctance the BJP has left it on the PDP leadership. “More than 48 hrs after Mufti Sayeed's demise, no formal declaration of Governor rule & no Govt in place so now I have to ask who is governing?’’ NC working president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter. Earlier, Omar Abdullah had said that Mehbooba should be given time to grieve. Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be visiting Kashmir on Sunday to express condolence with the family of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Sonia will be visiting Mufti familiy's official residence Fairview. “Sonia ji had inquired about the Charrum (last day of mourning) of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. May be she could visit Kashmir," J&K Pradesh Congress president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said. After the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Congress is warming up towards the PDP. The state leadership of Congress held a big meeting in Srinagar on Friday and paid glowing tributes to Mufti and described him as a secular leader who had worked hard for Congress. After the meeting Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former J&K chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad traveled to Bijbhera to offer prayers at the grave of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Meanwhile, MLA Langate, engineer Rasheed today asked PDP leadership to reconsider its ties with BJP. “The party must use the opportunity of government formation to rectify the mistake of entering into alliance with BJP,’’ he said. “Let NC, Congress and others offer unconditional but firm and sincere support to Mehbooba Ji and make a public commitment that they all will ensure that the dispensation so formed lasts for the full term.”
