Meanwhile, their opposition to Bhagat would continue, they said.

The party is planning for participation in the bandh call on October 24 against various issues, including the Hazaribagh incident of October 1. The meeting of the state unit, including Party chief Bhagat, started at the party’s office in the Assembly around 11 am. Soon after, rebel MLAs Irfan Ansari, Manoj Yadav and recently ousted spokesperson Ajay Rai reached the venue with a large number of supporters. Amid heavy slogan shouting, Sahay came out and met the two MLAs. They were then taken to Hariprasad.

“Our agenda is very clear; remove Sukhdeo Bhagat. We conveyed all the wrong-doings on his part and the fact that the Party has gone downhill in his leadership. The AICC incharge has assured us that we would be allowed to meet our vice-president after Diwali,” said Yadav. Till then, he added, they would continue to oppose Bhagat within the Party.

Rai, however, said that the meetings in this regard would be held over the next few days a delegation would go to meet the Party vice-president after Diwali. AICC Jharkhand Co-incharge Tara Chand Bhagora, who too was present at the meeting, said, “Our Party incharge heard them out. It has been decided that they would meet the top leadership and put their grievances. As of now, the issue for us has been settled.” Bhagat could not be contacted despite repeated efforts.

On Thursday, Bhagora and Sahay had met the rebel leaders in Jamshedpur. The pro- and anti-Bhagat factions came to fists and blows when the two were leaving to meet the rebel group after attending a Party meeting. However, the situation had not turned serious.
