Hyderabad: Techie kills self over ‘failure’ of his app

Police said he inhaled the gas as it was a "painless" method to commit suicide.

A 35-year-old techie allegedly committed suicide by inhaling nitrogen gas as he was depressed that an app developed by him had failed, police said on Thursday.

Lucky Gupta Agarwal was found dead by his family members in a room wearing a nose mask-connected to a small nitrogen gas cylinder, at his S R Nagar residence here.

“He decided to inhale nitrogen gas to end his life as it was a painless method…he also did some research on ways to commit suicide,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) A Venkateswara Rao said quoting a suicide note purportedly written by Lucky.

“He was under depression as the app which he developed for the past several months did not succeed and he suffered financial loss,” the DCP said.

Agarwal had earlier worked as a software professional before quitting his job and had started developing software and mobile applications, police said.

His body has been sent for post-mortem and a case has been booked under section 174 of CrPC, Rao said.
