Patidar reservation stir leader Hardik Patel Tuesday withdrew his bail application from the Gujarat High Court, a day after Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) filed a chargesheet against him and five of his aides in a sedition case and dubbed their stir as “illegal”.

Hardik’s lawyer Rafik Lokhandwala said that since chargesheet has been filed, fresh bail applications will be moved before sessions court. On Monday, Hardik had withdrawn his bail petition in connection with Surat sedition case.

Lokhandwala said that since there is a change in circumstances after filing of the chargesheets fresh petitions will be filed in respective courts in Surat and Ahmedabad.

Lokhandwala said that the bail applications were filed when the chargesheets had not been submitted by the police. Now, since the investigation is over with filing of the chargesheets fresh petitions for bail will be filed.

The summary of the chargesheet states that despite the knowledge that his community could not be listed under the OBC category “legally” and “socially”, the accused created the movement “to dislodge the democratically elected government” through violence by hatching a criminal conspiracy which amounted to sedition.

The chargesheet claimed the accused wanted to dislodge the government by waging a war against the state.
