Congress MLA from Garbada constituency in Gujarat’s Dahod district, Chandrikaben Baria received a threat letter in which the anonymous person threatened to shoot her if she campaigned against “his party” for the upcoming local body elections.
An FIR was lodged at Garbada police station under Section-507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for criminal intimidation. Police said they were investigating the matter.
Baria said that, a letter addressed to her was sent on the evening of October 29 to the office of the Congress party in Garbada. An FIR was lodged on Saturday.

“The letter was written on a blank page and kept inside an envelop that bore the address of the Congress party office in Garbada in which the parson asked me to stay away from campaigning of the upcoming local body elections or else he will shoot me in the public. We have approached the police and lodged an FIR today,” Baria said.
“Chandrikaben Baria, if you go out for campaigning and campaign against our party, then I will kill you and shoot you in public,” the letter read.
In Gujarat, municipal corporations elections are scheduled to be held on November 22, while those of municipalities, district & taluka panchayats are scheduled on November 29.
