Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has promised compulsory training for “all youth of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)” to ensure them jobs.

She was addressing Yuva Morcha of the party at Naranpura in Ahmedabad on Tuesday evening after day-long campaigning for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections which started with a road show in east Ahmedabad and Chhath puja on Sabarmati river front. Naranpura is the Assembly constituency of BJP chief Amit Shah.

“You must have read in newspapers that BJP is one such party which has ensured 174 per cent increase in jobs for thousands of youths… After this election, all those who who do not have jobs, I will ensure compulsory training for them… Not one worker of BJP should be such that he or she does not earn Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 (a month). At Sanand, there are many companies who ask me for trained youths. We should not remain just BJP workers, but also look after our families.”

She highlighted how the BJP government has constructed “multi-storey buildings” at four places in the state for the youth to set up small enterprises. “Our government is building these multi-storey buildings. If a youth wants to buy a small shop, 50 per cent of the cost will be borne by the government and if he or she takes it on rent, 50 per cent of the rent will be borne by the government,” she said.
She said under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mudra scheme, 1.5 lakh youths from Gujarat got loans worth Rs 19 crore for small businesses, as per the data till October.

“Now the state government will also give you interest assistance, we will also lessen your interest burden by 2-4 per cent. Youths in BJP should also try to see that their families move forward and be a part of this,” she told the gathering. The Gujarat BJP media co-ordinator sent out voice clips of this speech.

Asking people to vote for BJP, the CM said she was addressing them as their sister. “On Bhai beej, you all must have gone and given your sister something… I am your sister, please don’t call me foi (Patidar stir leader Hardik Patel has been calling her foi or father’s sister).”

On the smart city project, she said as soon as the elections were over, “I assure you that in the next one year, there will be wi-fi across Gujarat…you can work on your computer even on the road or and in your balcony. Our youth should be able to access college lectures online. Our youth should not think that I am left behind because my mobile does not have Internet”.
