Former Assam CM Mahanta hurt in road mishap

Mahanta, who sustained injury in his legs, has been admitted to the Nagaon Civil Hospital.

Former Assam chief minister and senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was injured when the car in which he was traveling collided with a truck on National Highway 715 at Bebejia in Nagaon district, about 110 kms from here on Tuesday evening.

Mahanta sustained injury in his legs and has been admitted to the Nagaon Civil Hospital.

“Mahanta sustained injury on his legs when the vehicle in which he was traveling collided with a truck near Bebejia,” a close aide of the former chief minister said. Mahanta (63), a Z-plus protectee, was on his way from Guwahati to his home-town Nagaon, about 120 kms from here, when the accident occurred at about 6:30 PM on Tuesday. He is however out of danger, the aide said.
