A man belonging to Ankleshwar town in Bharuch district was allegedly kidnapped and murdered in a South African town. He was killed for demanding salary from his employer, his family members claimed.
Yusuf Ahmed Bhuriya (46) was beaten to death allegedly by the owner of the store where he worked, said his family members at Dadhel village in Bharuch’s Ankleshwar taluka.
Bhuriya was abducted and kept at an isolated place for two weeks where he was tortured, alleged his family. He succumbed to torture and his body was found by the South African police, a relative of Bhuriya residing in the African nation told his family members at Dadhel village. Bhuriya was working in South Africa for the last 13 years. The alleged murder could not be independently confirmed.
His elder brother, Mohammad Hanif Bhuriya said: “We have learnt about the incident through a phone call made by a person acquainted to my brother, who also lives there. We have not received any official confirmation on the matter. We are trying to find out more on this.”
The victim’s family members, including his wife, two children and father live at Dadhel village. Bhuriya visited his family once every year.
This is the fourth case of a Gujarati being killed in South Africa.
Only two months ago, a businessman of Gujarati origin were shot dead in Pittsburgh and his brother injured. They belonged to Hansot taluka of Bharuch district.
A few days before this incident, another businessman from Anand district was hacked to death in Pretoria.
