Internet services partially restored in J&K

Following fresh communique from state government, the internet services on broadband and lease line have been extended for another six hours from 2 pm Sunday.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has partially restored internet services in the state after they were suspended apprehending trouble. Broadband services were restored at 8 pm after 68 hours of suspension. However, the GPRS services, sources said, will remain suspended till 10 am on Monday.

The internet facility on broadband, leaseline and GPRS was initially suspended in the state on Friday 12 am in the wake of threats from various quarters in the Valley to slaughter bovine animals on Eid in protest against a high court order on beef ban in the state. The court directions had come on a public interest litigation filed by an advocate Parmoksh Seth who later got appointed as Deputy Advocate General by the state government.
