The Army seized three automatic weapons, one .12 bore gun and one pistol along with a large quantity of ammunition Friday morning after its soldiers laid an ambush on an infiltration route from Myanmar in Nagaland’s Mon district, an Army official said.

The official confirmed that the ambush was laid on the Indian side of the international border, contrary to reports that it took place on the other side. No casualties were reported, he added.

According to the official, the militants were intercepted but they escaped. Search operations in the area are continuing since. The militants are believed to be from NSCN (K), which reportedly has camps in Myanmar.
