Cop killed in militant attack in Shopian

A policeman was killed when militants attacked a minority picket at Jamnagari village in Shopian area of south Kashmir on Friday evening.

The militants had attacked the picket to snatch rifles, but the policemen retaliated and the ensuing encounter left the policeman dead. Another policeman and a civilian were injured. The militants managed to escape. The policemen had been guarding a minority family at the village, located 15 km away from Shopian town.
