Former state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Anandiben Patel over allotment of 422 acres of land to the business partner of chief minister’s daughter Anar Patel in eco-sensitive zone of the Gir forest and a probe into the whole issue by a special investigation team (SIT) under the direct supervision of the high court or the Supreme Court.
Modhwadia said it was strange that while the land was allotted to Wildwood Resort set up by Anar Patel’s business partner at Rs.15 per sq metre againt the prevailing government rate of Rs. 180 per sq metre, Murlidhar Gau Seva Trust was charged Rs. 671 per sq metre for setting up a ‘gaushala’ some distance away from the WWR venue.
According to Modhwadia, the rate charged from ‘gaushala’ was five times of the prevailing government rate in the area. The Congress leader also alleged that while WWR was exempted from paying stamp duty, the gaushala was charged full stamp duty despite the fact that running ‘gaushala’ is a social activity and WWR is a commercial project.
He said that these land transactions took place when Modi was chief minister and Anandiben Patel as the state revenue minister. “Hence, both of them should resign and a probe into the scam be conducted by an SIT monitored by the Gujarat High Court or the Supreme court,” Modhwadia demanded.
The Congress leader also alleged that the state government constructed a metalled approach road at a cost of Rs.10 crore for access to WWR.
