Former Congress MLA Darshan Singh Brar from Baghapurana jumped into Namdhari slugfest going in the Chand Kaur murder case on Thursday and alleged that Thakur Dalip Singh was behind the entire conspiracy. Speaking to The Indian Express after meeting Thakur Uday Singh at Bhaini Sahib, he said, “It is clear that Chand Kaur, an old innocent woman has been murdered following a conspiracy hatched by Thakur Dalip Singh. He has been doing such acts since 2012. At first, he engineered an attack on Uday Singh in 2013 at UK gurudwara. Then, there was a pepper spray attack on Chand Kaur and then a car bomb blast in Jalandhar which had planned to kill Uday Singh. There is no reason to believe that he did not conspire against Chand Kaur. Had the Badal government taken actions in advance, this would not have happened.” [related-post] The condolence meetings for late Chand Kaur, the 88-year-old matriarch of Namdhari sect turned into a political slugfest on Thursday as SAD leaders including Cabinet Minister Sharanjit Dhillon, Nabha MLA Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra visited Bhaini Sahib on Thursday. From Congress, Jalandhar senior leader Chaudhary Santokh Singh also came. Meanwhile, the Dalip Singh faction trained guns on former Punjab Congress President H S Hanspal and Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu. Both the leaders had held SAD government responsible for the deteriorating law and order in the state and said that it was due to this that Kaur was murdered in broad daylight at a ‘heavily guarded’ dera like Bhaini Sahib. However, Thakur Dalip Singh’s press coordinator, Navtej Singh, said, “Congress leaders including Hanspal and Bittu should feel ashamed that they turned cremation of Mata into a politically motivated event. Now, they are blaming Badals for this murder but what about the 2003 incident when Uday Singh had used police force to attack Dalip Singh and did not allow him to enter Bhaini Sahib. His car was vandalized and he was not allowed to even enter the dera when he had come to meet Satguru Jagjit Singh.”
