BJP’s debacle in the Bihar Assembly elections has come when the party, buoyed by its show in the Kerala civic polls , was planning to expand its base in the state. For BJP in Kerala, the next test is the Assembly election slated for April next year.
The party now expects that electoral issues would be different at the time of assembly polls.

“Elections six months away gives the party a good space to come out of the shadow of Bihar election. Before Kerala goes to polls, Assam assembly polls would be held. Let us see how the Assam polls would be affected by the Bihar outcome,” BJP sources said.
In Kerala, BJP is trying to exploit the “Hindu discontent” stemming from the “pampering” of minority communities by the Congress.

The party aims to highlight how the Hindu community has been “neglected” by successive Congress and CPM governments.
Sources pointed out that the party has played down the recent national-level controversies such as beef row in Kerala factoring in the state situation.
