Bengaluru: Robbers decamp with Rs 2 cr worth of jewelry from store

The gang also damaged CCTV cameras and fled with the video recording system, police said.

 

A three member gang robbed jewelry worth Rs 2 crore from a jewelry store in North-East Bengaluru on Friday morning. The incident took place around 7.30 am at the Rajalakshmi Jewellery store and pawn brokerage.

Three men who arrived in a motorcycle allegedly robbed the store which had just been opened by an employee identified as Gopal. Police said three persons went to the shop and asked for gold beads for a Mangalasutra. When the employee Gopal Singh went inside the store the trio followed him and captured him.

The gang then took six boxes of gold jewels from the store and fled. They allegedly beat up the employee and poured kerosene to destroy evidence. The gang also damaged CCTV cameras and fled with the video recording system, police said. A complaint was filed by Govind Singh the owner of the shop.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East division) P S Harsha said that around Rs 2 crore worth of jewels were stolen.
