Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday claimed that the BJP-Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) alliance was a “marriage of convenience” just to grab power in the state.

The Chief Minister said in a statement that the BJP-AGP leaders completely ignored the wishes of the rank and file of party workers while forging the alliance and the disillusionment was there for everyone to see.

Attributing the BJP-AGP alliance as an “alliance of leaders and not of workers”, Gogoi said the Congress on the other hand has all along been giving due recognition and respect to the grassroot workers by giving them an audience to express their views.
