Assam appoints inspectors to implement Journalists Act

The additional labour commissioners and all deputy labour commissioners with jurisdiction over entire Assam would exercise the power to implement the provisions of the Act.

Assam government has appointed inspectors under the Working Journalists and Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955.

The inspectors have been appointed under the provision of Section 17-B (1) of the Act to implement the provisions of the Act and to implement the recommendations in force from time to time, an official release said in Guwahati on Saturday.

The additional labour commissioners and all deputy labour commissioners with jurisdiction over entire Assam would exercise the power to implement the provisions of the Act.

All assistant labour commissioners, all labour officers and labour inspectors will exercise power to implement the provisions of the Act within their own jurisdiction.

The inspectors so appointed shall be deemed to be a public servant, the release added.
