Arunachal CM Pema Khandu underscores importance of cultural heritage

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minster Pema Khandu on Thursday underscored the importance of the rich cultural heritage of indigenous communities of the state and called for its propagation and preservation.

Preservation is essential for maintaining the state’s distinct cultural identity and the rich heritage must be passed on to the younger generation, he said at a meeting with executive members of the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP), an official communiqué informed.

Lauding the efforts put in by IFCSAP in preservation and promotion of indigenous culture through its various endeavours, Khandu welcomed its decision to hold its 5th edition of state-level Indigenous Youth Festival at Tezu in November.

The IFCSAP leaders told Khandu that besides preservation and promotion of indigenous faith and culture, the festival aims to promote brotherhood, fraternity and national integrity.

They said competitions in folk dances and songs, indigenous musical instruments, traditional sports and literary activities would be part of the festival, which would be participated by about 5000 delegates from all over the state, the communiqué added.
