Amid the debate over alleged government “interference in the autonomy of AMU,” a delegation led by its Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Lt Gen (retd) Zameer Uddin Shah and director of Forum for Muslim Studies and Analysis Jasim Mohammad will meet PM Narendra Modi Saturday.
“The meeting has been confirmed for 5 pm on Saturday. We will be raising several issues related to Muslims and AMU with the PM,” said Jasim. The delegation also comprises AMU’s Pro-V-Brig (retd) S A Ali and Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq.
The issues likely to be discussed include restoration of minority character of AMU, which is at present pending before court. “We will also take up the issue of funding of AMU centres, which are currently facing paucity of funds and are on the verge of closure,” Jasim said.
