BJP president Amit Shah Friday asked BSP chief Mayawati to declare the assets she and her brother owned when Kanshiram declared her heiress. He also demanded that Mayawati declare her current assets. Shah was addressing a gathering of Dalits and OBCs in Kanpur where the ‘Dhamma Chetna Yatra’ concluded Friday. The yatra, taken out by Buddhist monks led by former Rajya Sabha MP Dhamma Viriyo (87), was flagged off by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Varanasi in April. It had started from Sarnath on April 24 and concluded after 174 days. (Declare how much property you and your brother owned when Kanshiram named you heir and how much it is now. declare this and the Dalits of UP would understand.).” He added that BSP had formed government in UP in the past because Dhamma Viriyo and other Bhante (buddhist monks) had blessed her. “I can see that those Bhantes are very disappointed today because the government was formed for welfare of poor, Dalits and backwards. But what is the output of that government? Assets of Behan Mayawati ji increased and the poor remained poor,” Shah said. He further said that while Mayawati speaks about Bhimrao Ambedkar, she had supported the UPA government at the Centre for 10 years. “It was led by the Congress, which had been insulting Bhimrao Ambedkar since Independence,” he said. Shah said the BJP-led governments at the Centre respected Ambedkar and worked to preserve his memories. “The oil painting of Ambedkar in Parliament complex was installed by the BJP-led government and not by Mayawati or Congress. The Modi government is also developing memorials of Panchtirth,” he said. Referring to the ongoing feud in the ruling SP, Shah said: “Those who cannot maintain law and order in their own family, how will they handle law and order of Uttar Pradesh?. I want to ask Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, UP is a big state and some peace can be restored if he puts his own family in order.” He added that all schemes of Modi government were for the poor, Dalits and backwards. He also appealed to Viriyo and other Bhantes to continue their yatra till February next year so that the ultimate aim of ‘parivartan’ could be achieved. At the event, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said: “Anarchy is prevailing in UP.SP and BSP have ruined the state and hindered its growth.”
