Amarinder Singh criticises Akalis for setting up garbage dump in Amritsar

He said the aerial distance of the dump is just around one km from the Darbar and makes it easy for flies and insects to fly around, besides the foul smell emanating from it reaches the holy place. Amarinder claimed that Akalis were planning to move the garbage dump in Bathinda out of the city just because union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal wanted it, but, according to him, had no such “respect and regard” for the holy city.

“Family concerns assume precedence and priority over the public concerns for the Badals,” he alleged. The former chief minister said he had already asked Congress leaders in Amritsar to identify the alternate space for the garbage dump outside the holy city and it must be at a reasonable distance from Golden Temple, so that neither the flies and insects nor foul smell reaches there.
