SP’s Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, however, skipped the event. The family was last seen on one stage together during Ram Gopal’s birthday of on June 29 in Lucknow.

While speaking at the inauguration, Shivpal congratulated Akhilesh for completing the project before Mulayam’s birthday. He, however, also gave credit to Mulayam for the state’s development and said, “Historic works have been done in the state only when Neta ji (Mulayam) was the Chief Minister.” He, however, was quick to add that good work was also being done under the guidance of Akhilesh.

Ram Gopal expressed hope that Akhilesh will keep getting Mulayam’s blessings and Agra-Lucknow Expressway will be extended upto Ballia when Akhilesh is voted to power again in the forthcoming elections.

In reference to the family feud, State Minister Azam Khan said, “People should remember that hatred cannot end the feelings of love and affection. Saazish karne wale log zaleel hote hain aur unki taqdeer me sivaiy zillat ke kuch nahi hota hai. Rishtey nahi tode ja sakte.. mohabattein khatm nahin ki ja sakin. Jo galat they..woh kal bhi galat they..aaj bhi galat hain and kal bhi galat rahenge. (those who conspire will keep getting humiliated. Relationships don’t break, love doesn’t vanish like this. Those who were in the wrong yesterday, are the same today)”

Over the last three months, the feud in the party’s first family has played out openly, with Akhilesh and Shivpal even entering into a verbal duel at a public meeting.
