To verify the information, Station House Officer Rajendra Godara and his team reached the spot and found Singh, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana who is in Jaipur to celebrate his birthday, present at the hotel.
“When he was asked about the information given to the Police Control Room, the person took out a packet of ganja from his possession and said: ‘I had consumed ganja and if I have given any information under influence of ganja, then I don’t know’,” the DCP said.
Subsequently, a packet of ganja weighing 1.5 grams was found in Singh’s possession and it was seized on the spot under the NDPS Act. Police officials said since the quantity of ganja found was low, he was released on bail after presenting his surety.
“However, a case is being registered against Abhay Singh under the NDPS Act and investigation is being carried out,” a police official said.
The central government considers 1 kg a small quantity while 20 kg is considered a commercial quantity.

In a statement, Singh later said: “Someone said (to the police) that Babaji is going to commit suicide. The police turned up with a strange excuse for the case. But then they understood…”
He said that he told the police that if you take action over “prasad (ganja)” then there are so many people in Kumbh who do it and “then you should arrest everyone”.
