The Income Tax Department has conducted searches at several locations linked to Telugu film producer and Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman V V Ramana Reddy, popularly known as Dil Raju.
Sources said dozens of I-T officers were conducting searches at offices, residences, and other locations in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad linked to Dil Raju and his partners in connection with alleged tax evasion by his production company, Sri Venkateswara Creations.
His daughter Hansitha Reddy, who owns Dil Raju Productions, is also under I-T scrutiny.
On December 26, against the backdrop of heat on Telugu actor Allu Arjun over a stampede during the premiere of Pushpa 2, which left a woman dead, Dil Raju had led Telugu film industry heavyweights to a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the Integrated Command and Control Centre of Telangana Police.
Dil Raju, who was appointed chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation on December 3, later said that issues such as ticket rates are miniscule when compared to the CM’s vision of taking Telugu cinema to the global stage.
“These small things like benefit shows and ticket rates do not matter. Nearly 200 Telugu films are released every year. The Telugu film industry and government will work together to take Telugu cinema to the global stage, it is a big responsibility that the CM has given us,” he said.
