Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the country’s first government helicopter ambulance service at AIIMS Rishikesh.

The heli-ambulance was launched during a ceremony at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi, where the PM launched a string of health projects worth Rs 12,850 crore.

The PM also launched drone services at 11 tertiary healthcare institutions across the country, including AIIMS Rishikesh.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who attended the event virtually, said the heli-ambulance would be a critical lifeline in emergencies, especially in areas with limited road access.
