Gujarat: Rs 14.51 lakh cash seized from house of financier in Bharuch

Police said that the seized cash included 700 Rs 2,000 new notes, 4 notes of new Rs 500 and notes in various denominations.

Acting on a tip-off, Bharuch district police Saturday seized cash in old and new notes of around Rs 14.51 lakh from a house in Bharuch town. The house owner, Ankit Modi, was away. His mother was present at home.

Bharuch city police A Division officials carried out the search operation in a bungalow at Nilkantnagar on Saturday evening. Police found cash hidden in the bag lying in the drawing room. Police checked the bag which led to the discovery of around 14.51lakh cash.

Police said that the seized cash included 700 Rs 2,000 new notes, 4 notes of new Rs 500 and notes in various denominations. Police found an old lady in the house, who disclosed that the cash was of her son who has gone out of the town for some work.

Bharuch city A division police inspector said, “The cash belongs to Ankit Modi, who runs finance business and is also into real estate. He is out of town. We have called him and after his statements are recorded, we will get more clues.”
