Govt striving to make Tripura a model state: Tripura CM Manik Saha in I-Day speech

Chief Minister Manik Saha Thursday said the BJP-led government was striving to make Tripura a model state in terms of development and promoting digitisation of public services.

In his Independence Day speech at the Assam Rifles ground in Agartala, Saha said efforts were being made to boost rubber, bamboo, tourism, and healthcare sectors under the ‘Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme – 2024’.

The CM also mentioned that the government was committed to promoting ‘Ease of Doing Business’ under the Swagat portal.

Saha listed the achievements of the government, such as signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and fostering skill development under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Udyog, among others.

Claiming that the government was sparing no effort to make Tripura prosperous, Saha said, “We are dealing with challenges. We have crossed several hurdles and properly used the opportunities. We are standing on the threshold of a new age. Our government is working incessantly to achieve economic growth, social welfare, human resource development, and a conducive environment for overall growth and development.”

He added that inclusion, stability, and good governance were the cornerstones of the activities of his government and said, “Our government has been taking transformational steps to take the state ahead towards a bright future.”

Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said in Pecharthal, “Today is a historic day. Today is our day of pride. We organised a bike rally and other programs in Pecharthal on the occasion of Independence Day… If we can all work to make a drug-free state, drug-free Pecharthal, then there will be no barrier to development.”

Tripura Opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury hoisted the Tricolour in front of his residence in Agartala.

Border Security Force (BSF) jawans exchanged sweets and greetings with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Deepak Border Out Post (BOP) in Sepahijala district.

In the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the Tricolour was hoisted at Khumpui Academy grounds in Khumulwng, 25 km from Agartala. TTAADC Chairman Jagadish Debbarma received the ceremonial guard of honour from student volunteers.

Meanwhile, nearly 20-22 girl students of a school at Sabroom in the South Tripura district were hospitalised after they felt dizzy during their I-Day performance. The students were admitted to the Sabroom sub-divisional hospital.

“After being administered preliminary treatment, maximum girls were discharged from the hospital. The remaining girls would be discharged soon,” said a doctor at the hospital.
