A pigeon, carrying a handwritten note that threatened to blow up Jammu railway station, was captured in the R S Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir and is believed to have flown over from across the border, officials said.
The pigeon was caught in the Katmaria area, along the International Border, on Monday night, prompting the police and the Central Armed Police Forces to beef up security at the railway station and areas surrounding it, officials said. Security along the railway tracks has also been beefed up, and sniffer dogs were pressed into service to check for anything suspicious.
The note threatening to blow up the railway station was written in both Urdu and English. Officials said security agencies were looking into the matter to determine if it was just an act of mischief or part of a conspiracy.
Meanwhile, security forces launched a search operation along the International Border in the Gajansoo area near here on Thursday following reports about the sighting of a suspected drone.
While it was not yet known whether the suspected drone had originated from across the border or not, searches by security forces were in progress.
