Bengaluru Police have booked Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal after a 38-year-old employee allegedly committed suicide. The employee, K Aravind, allegedly committed suicide on September 28, but the case was registered on October 6. Aravind who was working as a homologation engineer from 2022, left behind a 28-page death note alleging harassment by Aggarwal and other top Ola staff members. Read more
The ‘Toshkhana’ (treasure chamber) of the Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura was reopened on Sunday, for inspection work as per the directions of a Supreme Court-appointed high-powered committee. The treasury, which is located adjacent to the sanctum sanctorum, was last opened in 1971. The SC had in August 2025 order, had constituted a 12-member high-powered interim committee to look after the day-to-day affairs of the temple. The team found silver sticks smeared with gulal, a gleaming gold stick, gems and precious utensils, but could not find any property-related documents, said a member. Read more
The Uttarakhand government has informed the High Court that it would be introducing amendments to the Uniform Civil Code Act. In an affidavit last week, the Uttarakhand Home ministry proposed to address concerns surrounding privacy by culling Aadhaar-based authentication, disclosure of children born in a live-in relationship during its termination, registrar’s authority to inform parents or legal guardians of registrants under the age of 21, and changes in furnishing supporting documents while registering a live-in relationship. Senior advocate Vrinda Grover had challenged provisions of the UCC, stating that the UCC Act, rules, and forms set up a legal regime intruding into the personal sphere with surveillance and policing. Three people, including two brothers, were killed after a late-night brawl between two groups over a “damaged vehicle” in the Ambedkarnagar area of Rajkot, Gujarat, shortly after midnight on Diwali on Monday. According to the police, the incident happened after one of the deceased, Arun Vinu Barot, who was drunk and driving his car very fast, hit a two-wheeler, resulting in an altercation between two groups. Two brothers, Suresh Vasram Parmar and Vijay Vasram Parmar, outside whose house the incident happened were also killed in the violence, while Raman Barot, brother of deceased Arun, and Sudhir Parmar, son of deceased Vijay — sustained injuries. There is some disappointing news for Cristiano Ronaldo fans in India, as the football legend may not be travelling with his team for a match on October 22. Al-Nassr is set to face FC Goa in their AFC Champions League 2 match in Goa, but according to Saudi Arabia’s sports newspaper Al Riyadhiah, Ronaldo will not be part of the travelling squad. Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr has a clause giving him the right to pick and choose matches outside Saudi Arabia. Read more
