Ramu Ram Raika, a former member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), who was arrested on September 1 for allegedly providing leaked question paper of Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam-2021 to his children, had allegedly hidden the fact that his daughter would be appearing for the exam, top officials said. However, Raika had informed the RPSC that his son was appearing for the exam. Raika had given an undertaking in writing to the RPSC to remove him from exam proceedings for fair assessment of the exams as his son will be giving the exam, but he allegedly did not inform about his daughter taking the exam. According to the rules of the RPSC, no employee working in the department or any member of the RPSC board can be involved in the examination proceeding if his/her family member or a relative is giving any recruitment exam conducted by the commission. If a family member is taking the recruitment exam of the RPSC, the official or member of the board has to inform in writing and he will be kept away from the exam proceedings to maintain transparency and fairness. Talking to The Indian Express, Ashutosh Gupta, chief exam controller of RPSC, said that Raika had allegedly hidden the information about his daughter appearing for the SI exam and only informed about his son. Following procedure, he was officially kept away from all the examination process of SI recruitment of the department. However, Raika was still allegedly able to get the exam question paper for his children, six days before the examination, SOG officials said. According to the investigation conducted by the Special Operation Group (SOG), Raika admitted to getting the question paper from Babulal Katara, former member of the RPSC. Raika was a member of RPSC from July 2018 to July 2022. Katara became a member of RPSC in October 2020 and was suspended in January 2024, though he was arrested in 2023 for allegedly leaking the senior teacher’s recruitment exam 2022. Sources in SOG said that Katara had admitted that he had given the question paper to Raika. Raika’s daughter got 5th rank and son got 40th rank in the SI exam, 2021, and both were arrested by the SOG.
