Mumbai boys top JEE Main 2015

The cutoff score for eligibility for JEE (Advance) is 105 for general category students.

Two Mumbai boys topped state in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2015, the results of which were declared on Monday evening.

Tanuj Kaza and Rishabh Shah are amongst the toppers from Maharashtra. While Tanuj scored 335 out of 360, Rishabh scored 332. “I had expected a good rank but did not think that I would top the mark list across the state,” said Kaza, a school level lawn tennis player who has also participated in Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) matches.

The cutoff score for eligibility for JEE (Advance) is 105 for general category students. The cutoff for OBC category students is 70, SC – 50 and ST – 44. Last year, the cut off for general category was 115. Around 1.5 lakh candidates will be eligible to appear for the JEE (Advanced).

Nearly 13 lakh students had appeared for the Joint Entrance Exam (Main) 2015 which held in April 4 in offline mode and on April 10 and April 11 in online mode. Out of which top 1.5 students will be eligible for JEE advance.

Total candidates registered for Paper: 1292711

Candidates registered for Offline Exam : 1105021

Candidates registered for Online Exam : 187690

Candidates qualified for JEE (Advanced) : 152401

Students who have cleared JEE main will be eligible to take admission into the much sought after undergraduate engineering programs in IITs, NITs and other centrally funded technical institutes in India.

The succesful candidates are eligible to register online for the JEE (Advanced) 2015 from May 2 to 7. The JEE (Advanced) 2015 paper 1 and 2 are scheduled to be held on May 24, 2015.
