JNU women students’ strike enters fourth day

The students said they were visited today by Delhi government officials who took suo motu cognisance of reports over their agitation but they are yet to hear from the varsity administration.

The former hostel warden was allegedly involved in forging attendance registers,and paying sanitation workers less than their due,besides physically abusing some of them.

“While a University fact-finding committee had recommended her removal and the Vice Chancellor terminated her appointment,she did not leave the hostel as required,” said Vibha,one of the two students on indefinite hunger strike.

She said government officials,who spoke to the workers and students as well as the administration today,assured them of action.

Students said the two women,who have been surviving only on water for the past two days,have grown weak and have been advised to withdraw their fasts by doctors who visit them daily.
