Seeking resumption of elections of the students union of Jawaharlal Nehru University,a students delegation went to the Supreme Court on Wednesday and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Justice of India. The memorandum,submitted to the SC deputy registrar,was also signed by the president of the JNU Teachers Association and the general secretary of the JNU Karmchari Association. It has been two years since we had an election at JNU. All the students want an elected student body to highlight their problems and share concerns, said Roshan Kishore,Delhi state president of Student Federation of India,. The delegation was organised by the joint struggle committee of JNU students for the restoration of JNUSU Elections. It has been three years since the JNUSU elections were last held. There is a court stay on the JNUSU elections for not conforming to recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee.
