Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh on Monday honoured 20 teachers for their outstanding contributions to the field of education and setting high standards of professional commitments. At a function held at Raj Bhawan on Teachers Day,out of the 20 awardees,while four teachers were conferred the National Award,16 were honoured with state-level awards. (see box) At Himachal Pradesh University,Vice-Chancellor A D N Bajpai announced the release of 20 per cent arrears to teachers following the Sixth Wage Board recommendations. The remaining 10 per cent will be released at the earliest,he added.
