From Wednesday,Delhi University undergraduate students will start taking their first examination under the new semester system for all courses.
The examinations will get over on December 10 and the University will then take a winter break. The second semester begins on January 1.
R C Sharma,Dean (Examinations),said they were fully geared for the examinations and plan to release the results within a month. Special teams in charge of maintaining discipline will visit colleges to check exam-related malpractice,he said.
For science students,the examination season began on November 3 when practical exams for the first semester were held.
In some colleges,teachers have taken extra classes to finish the first semester syllabus officially,classes for all undergraduate students under the semester mode ended on November 19.
Some teachers took classes on November 20,21,22 after seeking special permission, said B K Sharma,Principal of Motilal Nehru Evening College.
For students fresh out of school,their first brush with university examinations is stressful.
There is a lot of pressure. We have switched off phones and are busy preparing. Teachers are in a hurry to complete topics. Weve had to turn to libraries in addition to the notes given in class, said Puneet Pushkar,first-year student of Political Science at Dyal Singh College.
