‘Discrepancies’ in medical service exam: Congress whip in Lok Sabha to PM Modi

Congress whip in LS Manickam Tagore Tuesday wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi raising concerns about the results of the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination 2024. He also alleged that there were “discrepancies in the appointment process” of Category-1 Medical Officers of the Central Health Service.

In the letter, Tagore said according to the Press Information Bureau’s release dated November 14 2024, 163 vacancies were announced for Category-l with none allocated for OBC candidates. “However, the final recommendation list includes 22 OBC candidates, along with two additional candidates, exceeding the available vacancies,” the letter read.

Tagore said that the “situation raises critical questions” about the “lack of transparency in vacancy announcements”, “violation of Reservation Principles” and “impact on future opportunities”.
