Lok Sabha MP Kunwar Danish Ali, who was suspended from the BSP last year, met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi Thursday and sought her “blessings” for contesting LS elections from Amroha constituency on a Congress ticket. Sources in the Congress said Danish’s name is among the ones shortlisted by party’s UP state election committee for Amroha seat Sunday. Ali has been in touch with Congress top leaders for months and he even attended Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amroha and Manipur. Incidentally, as part of its arrangement with the SP, the Congress is set to contest Amroha. Ali has been active on the ground in anticipation.
