Dalit groom ‘thrown off carriage’ in Gwalior district

A Dalit groom was allegedly attacked by people from an ‘upper caste’ and thrown off a horse-drawn carriage when his wedding procession passed through their neighbourhood in MP’s Gwalior district, police said.

According to police, the family of Naresh Jatav, the groom, alleged that the accused objected to their passing through their locality.

The accused, though, have alleged that currency notes were thrown from the wedding procession at a woman from the locality, which resulted in a fight. The incident was reported on the night of May 20.
